It’s far out man! Lyndsey Cockwell presents the best of Berlin’s community choirs in a spring choral celebration with a difference. Exploding with energy, these choirs give the choral scene a shot in the arm with their original, contemporary arrangements, freaky harmonies, groovy vibes – and their love of dressing up!
Feel the power and moving sounds of around 200 performers singing for the pure joy of it. The energy is infectious and the audience is invited to join in the psychedelic themed dress code, and even the singing!
You’ll hear your favourite pop songs as you’ve never heard them before, with a special trippy twist. Berlin’s largest and most vibrant community choir – The Berlin Pop Choir – brings the joy of spring into singing with around 150 people performing on the night. The only rule in this unique choir, where everyone is welcome, is that you love singing as much as they do. The Berlin Pop Ensemble will have you tripping on their spacey harmonies, while Sankalita Mandal (Indian Music Potpourri) will get you feeling the groove. Plus musical director, Lyndsey Cockwell, presents musical surprises on the night.
Love singing? Love choirs? Have a psychedelic night with the Berlin Pop Choir – can we tempt you to sing along? It’s gonna be far out, man!

More about the Berlin Pop Choir:
Lyndsey Cockwell (UK) established Berlin’s first community choir in 2009. The craze was sweeping the UK when Cockwell decided to bring it to Berlin. It was all about having fun singing together, and Berliners jumped on board.
A community choir is open to everybody, no matter what their experience and ability, with no audition or reading of music necessary. In the Berlin Pop Choir you are free to choose if you want to be a one-time visitor or become a long-term member. This drop-in system makes the BPC unique and means the choir is made up of whoever is there on the night.
With “Love singing” as its motto, what started with 5 people in a living room has now grown into anything up to 200 enthusiasts on any one night, and continues to grow! The lessons are held in English with a little German thrown in and translation is always available. The choir is full of both Germans and international singers from many different countries, speaking a range of different languages and from many different backgrounds. It has become a place to meet people and make new friends through the simple act of loving singing.
The repertoire ranges around the world of rock and pop from Charli XCX to Anna Calvi, from Joy Division to Kraftwerk, Abba and Miley Cyrus. All the songs are custom arranged and taught by Lyndsey Cockwell. The choir performs at the end of each course and all our friends, partners and families are invited. This spring the Berlin Pop Choir will perform at the öegendary SO36 with specially invited guests and performers to take the community choir message even further into Berlin.
